Previously, such a time for a marathon was considered fantastic.
A world marathon running record has been set by Kelvin Kiptum from Kenya, who won gold in the Chicago Marathon, covering the distance in an incredibly short time of just 2 hours and 35 seconds.
According to this The Guardian, the idea of someone being able to run the Chicago Marathon in under two hours was considered more of a fantasy than a realistic goal. However, thanks to Kiptum, it has come true.
Not only did Kelvin Kiptum put on an amazing physical performance in the last hundred meters of the race, but he also gave air kisses and waved to the cheering crowd. Upon arriving at the finish line, Kiptum expressed his feelings, "I'm so happy! <...> I knew that one day I would become a world record holder."
