In the final match, the Russians met with the Croatian team.
In the first meeting, Andrei Rublev was stronger than Borna Goyo with a score of 6: 4, 7: 6 (5), and in the second game, Daniil Medvedev outplayed Marina Chilich - 7: 6 (7), 6: 2.
Thus, the doubles match was not needed, as Russia won with a score of 2: 0. Earlier, the Russians beat Sweden in the quarterfinals and the German national team in the semifinals.
In addition to Medvedev and Rublev, the Russian national team also included Evgeny Donskoy, Karen Khachanov and Aslan Karatsev.
This victory was the first for our team in the drawing of this trophy since 2006. In total, the Russians won the Davis Cup for the third time in the history of the competition.
