According to Sport-Express, the International Ice Hockey Federation decided at a congress in Turkey to return the Russian national team to the highest division of the world championship. It was also determined the order of return to the structure of the international competition and the Olympic Games.
It is known that 98 countries out of 119 voted for the admission of the Russian national hockey team and 10 voted against.
Among the states that opposed the return of the Russian team were the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and the Baltic States.
