Manturov: in 20 regions of Russia they complain about lack of oxygen for COVID-19 patients

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov spoke about the situation in the country with medical oxygen.

"About 20 Russian regions reported a lack of medical oxygen for patients with COVID-19. As soon as the first signal was received, the checks took place immediately in all 85 subjects, and it turned out that there is an imbalance," said Denis Manturov.

Currently, the mode of supply of medical equipment is being worked out "in manual mode," said Denis Manturov. "Regions where problems have arisen have not submitted timely applications to equipment manufacturers, but they are provided with all necessary assistance. Oxygen is supplied somewhere in cylinders, somewhere in liquid form," the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized.

Denis Manturov recalled that enterprises engaged in the production of medical oxygen are 20% loaded. If necessary, they can increase production to the required volumes.

"The regions and the ministry need to work more closely with each other to submit and receive applications for the supply of medical equipment. In Russia, there are 114 oxygen producers in 59 regions. All of them today have been transferred to the production of medical gases and are operating around the clock," summed up Denis Manturov.

In Rostov-on-Don, after the death of 13 patients with COVID-19, a criminal case was opened. The infected patients died due to lack of oxygen, all of them were in hospital number 20. In addition, problems with the lack of oxygen were found in the Kursk region.
