State Duma deputies passed a law on controlling the activities of foreign agents in Russia.
According to information published on the official website of the Russian parliament, a law regulating the activities of foreign agents in Russia was passed by State Duma deputies in the third reading at the plenary session.
Vasily Piskarev, head of the Duma Committee on Security and Counteraction to Corruption, said that the adopted law systematizes the provisions contained in the current Russian legislation concerning the activities of foreign agents.
According to Russian legislation, a foreign agent is a person carrying out his or her political activities under foreign influence and receiving support from abroad.
According to the provisions of the new law, a foreign agent has no right to engage in creative activities at the expense of the budget, cannot purchase goods for state needs, cannot participate in state environmental assessments as an expert and carry out political activities in the field of protection of traditional family values.
This law will take effect on December 1, 2022.
