The owner of the Guinness, Smirnoff, Baileys and Captain Morgan brands announced his departure from Russia.
The British company Diageo plc, the world's largest producer of premium alcoholic beverages, has announced plans to leave Russia. This was reported by Interfax, citing a company spokesman.
"After stopping exports and sales of finished products to our customers in Russia in March, we made a tough decision to gradually reduce commercial activities in the country," said the company representative.
The company plans to leave the Russian market within six months. It will provide its employees with expanded compensation benefits. In early March, Diageo halted shipments to Russia, given the state of the global logistics networks. The company's main trademarks are Smirnoff, Black Label, Johnnie Walker, J&B, Guinness, Baileys, Captain Morgan, and Gordon's.
