The head of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce (IRTP) Ferdinando Pelazzo announced the temporary suspension of the system allowing to buy Italian goods for rubles.
This was reported by RIA Novosti news agency, quoting his words. According to Pelazzo, the cessation of payment for goods in rubles is due to concerns that this mechanism could circumvent the sanctions imposed on Russia. The decision was taken after an appeal from Italy's financial security committee.
The system of exchanging Italian supplies for rubles began operating in a test mode in February 2024. IRTP representatives claim that their activities do not violate the sanctions because they cooperate with goods that are not on the sanctioned list. According to Pelazzo, the issue of further work of this mechanism will be raised at the meeting of the members of the House in July.
