Electronic passports in Russia will begin to be issued from January 2023, Valentina Kazakova, Head of the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, announced this.
At the moment the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and other agencies are discussing the introduction of the process of issuing and processing of electronic passports.
According to TASS, at least 100 thousand people will want to get passports at the first stage.
It was previously reported that the passport will look like a smart card, which will replace the paper passport. Necessary information will be written down on the card.
The second option will be presented in the form of an application on the phone - it will be possible not to show a smart card, but to present a QR-code.
