Rospotrebnadzor introduces general mask regime in Russia

On Tuesday, the department published a decree on the mandatory wearing of masks in public places. This measure was taken due to the continued spread of coronavirus infection.

Rospotrebnadzor published an order according to which all Russians need to use masks in crowded places, in public transport and elevators. The agency reports that restrictive measures have to be tightened due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in the country.

In addition, the department recommends suspending entertainment events and catering operations from 23:00 to 06:00. The document also says that disinfection will be carried out in public places in a more enhanced mode.

Places where large numbers of people gather, where a mandatory mask regime is introduced, are considered a space where more than 50 people can immediately be located, as specified in Rospotrebnadzor. The document comes into force on October 28.
