The reason for this practice is that homeowners do not want to leave refugees alone in their homes while they are away.
In the Netherlands, with the arrival of the vacation season, local residents began to evict refugees from Ukraine. The newspaper NU.nl writes about this.
This practice is explained by the fact that the owners of the houses do not want to leave refugees alone in their homes for the period of absence.
"The cat to the pet hotel, and the Ukrainians to the shelter. Yes, this is a harsh reality," said one refugee host.
The publication notes that there are about 1,200 internally displaced people in Central and West Brabant. There are also families willing to take them in for the summer.
"Sometimes Ukrainians are really left in shelters. Now there is an influx of people saying: I'm going on vacation and I don't want them to stay in my house alone," the security directorate of the Brabant-Zuidost region noted.
The security directorate of the Hollands-Midden Region said that refugees are now appearing who are returning from their host families to official shelters. In some cases this is due to lack of space, and in others to problems between the refugees and the host family.
