X5 Group announced the discontinuation of purchases of Mars products from «Five» and «Crossroad». The reason for the stop is unjustifiably high price set by the manufacturer.
The largest Russian retailer X5 has decided to stop purchasing popular Mars products. Well-known brands of chocolate bars and candies such as Snickers, Twix, Bounty, Milky Way, as well as Orbit and Eclipse are no longer sold in the networks «Five» and «Crossroads».
The decision was made due to disagreements with the manufacturer over the terms of delivery and unreasonable overpricing. The representative of X5 pointed out that the purchase price of the offered products is much higher than the market price of similar products, which is contrary to the interests of end consumers, says rbc.ru.
However, as long as stocks remain in stock, the products will be available to buyers until they are completely exhausted, approximately by the end of summer. Then the shelves will remain free, and the place of usual production will be taken by similar products of competitors.
It is worth noting that Mars products have a significant segment in the Russian market: only the brand Snickers ranks second in terms of sales in the category of chocolate confectionery products. Although the discontinuance of procurement is an important signal to the market, both sides are willing to continue negotiations to find a compromise.
