During the Telecom Future 2024 forum, Maksut Shadaev, head of the Ministry of Digitization, announced a possible legislative ban on mass advertising calls in Russia.
According to him, the ministry intends to present a bill that would ban such spam calls initiated by robots, RIA Novosti reported.
The speaker noted that it seems to his department that now Russians have developed a very tense attitude to any incoming voice calls, and the Ministry plans to ban advertising calls, as they are initiated by robots.
He also reminded that there is already administrative responsibility for spam calls, the violation of which falls under the law signed by President Vladimir Putin in early April. Under the new law, individuals can be fined from ten to twenty thousand rubles, officials - from twenty to one hundred thousand rubles, and legal entities - from 300 thousand to one million rubles.
Earlier, a Russian company launched an online service to check for leaked personal data, and Otkritie Bank was also fined for calling a debtor every half an hour.
