The couple in Spain died less than an hour apart after 52 years of marriage.
According to the newspaper La Vanguardia, Candida Cuervo Gonzalez and Jose Antonio Garcia Llana were married in 1970 in a church in Oviedo, Spain.
On January 22, 2023, the couple passed away 45 minutes apart. Candida, 89, died in a nursing home, and afterward her 86-year-old husband's heart stopped. He had been in an Asturian hospital since Jan. 20.
Candida and Jose were born in two communities in Asturias, 18 kilometers apart. He worked as a mechanic and she was a homemaker. After the couple legalized their relationship, the lovers settled in Oviedo. However, for almost 53 years of life together, Candida and Jose never had children.
