The number of violations in the meat industry has risen sharply over the past year

Experts blame the moratorium on business inspections.

The day before, Roskachestvo detected pathogenic listeria and salmonella bacteria in the dumplings of several brands, such as Goryachaya Shtuchka, Vkusvill, Starodvorie, Myasnoy Dvorik and Turakovo.

Experts note that salmonellae are regularly detected in Russian products. Since August, the organization has detected the bacterium in minced chicken.

At the same time, it is alarming that the number of violations in the sphere of meat products has more than doubled compared to last year, Oleg Pavlov, chairman of the Public Consumer Initiative and deputy chairman of the public council at Rospotrebnadzor, told Radio 1. He pointed to the moratorium on business inspections as the main reason for such violations.

Pavlov emphasized that even when facts of adulteration and the presence of bacteria are detected, producers are not subjected to serious fines or sanctions, but only receive warnings. This creates an environment where manufacturers are not held sufficiently accountable for product quality.

It also means that the average consumer is unable to detect product irregularities on their own, even in the case of poisoning, which is no reason to inspect a business.

However, according to the expert, if health deteriorates after consuming the products, it is necessary to consult a doctor and find out the cause of poisoning. If the connection between the consumption of products and poisoning is confirmed, you can file a claim with the manufacturer or seller and, if necessary, go to court.
