Starting August 24, China will completely stop importing aquatic fishery products that originated in Japan. This happened after radioactive water was discharged from Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant.

The Chinese General Administration of Customs made the relevant decision in order to protect food products from possible radioactive contamination after the discharge of contaminated water.

It should be recalled that the company-operator of the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant, TEPCO, began discharging into the ocean the water previously used to cool the reactors, having previously diluted it with seawater. For its part, China has voiced a strong protest, demanding a halt to the "erroneous actions".

Earlier, one expert said that the discharge of radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant threatens Kamchatka with ecological disaster, while another emphasized that the discharge of water from the plant would first affect plankton and then the fish that would eat it.
