The law specifies that now a citizen does not have to have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria to get legal recognition of sex change.
The Scottish Parliament has passed a law allowing citizens from the age of 16 to change their gender in documents. About this writes Reuters.
For the adoption of the norm voted 86 parliamentarians, while 39 expressed a negative opinion. Earlier it was possible to change the sex in the documents from 18 years.
The law specifies that now a citizen does not have to have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria to get legal recognition of sex change. It will be enough for him to show proof that he lived in the "acquired gender" for three months.
A similar law was adopted in Spain, where it is possible to change gender in documents without a medical examination from the age of 16, and from the age of 14 it is allowed to do it accompanied by a legal representative.
