The journalist noted on her Twitter (blocked in Russia) that an aide to the head of state came first and conveyed Ebrahim Raisi's request. The Iranian president asked the CNN anchor to cover her head with a headscarf because of the special months of the calendar for Muslims, as well as because of the events currently taking place in the country.

The presenter said she was not prepared to comply with Raisi's unprecedented request.

The Iranian president did not show up for the interview at the scheduled time. The journalist was outraged because she had been preparing for the meeting for months, and the equipment in the studio had been tuned up for eight hours.
