Representatives of Russian diplomatic services in Turkey have issued recommendations for Russians who find themselves in a situation where they are denied boarding flights to Latin American countries via Istanbul. They urged to apply to Turkish Airlines with a written request for compensation through the court. This was reported in the Russian Embassy in Ankara, reports "RIA Novosti".
If such a situation arises, Russians are also advised to urgently contact the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul by emergency phone +90 (530) 941-03-68 or email stambul@mid.ru to report the incident.
The embassy also emphasized the importance of sending a written request to the airline to obtain official confirmation of the denied boarding of the flight, trying to specify the reasons for the refusal.
Diplomats also recommend taking steps to objectively record the incident, such as recording the conversation with airline representatives, photographs or video recordings.
In case of filing a lawsuit, it should be directed to the applicant's place of residence against the airline, demanding compensation for both moral and material damage. Diplomats note that filing a lawsuit in a Turkish court against Turkish Airlines will probably not be effective.
Earlier in April it became known about mass cases of refusal to board Russians on flights to Latin American countries via Turkey, the number of such cases for the last month reached several thousand.
Russians have also been given the name of countries where they can travel without a foreign passport.
