Afghan authorities have publicly executed two men who were accused of murder, Khaama Press Agency reported, citing a court.

The Taliban High Court (the Taliban movement is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) informed that the two men were executed at a stadium in Ghazni province. This was approved by the leader of the movement, Haibatullah Akhundzada.

Tripartite courts confirmed the charges and afterwards handed down death sentences. The murders of which the men were accused occurred five and seven years ago.

The Taliban have been in power in Afghanistan since August 2021, when they entered Kabul and President Ashraf Ghani fled the country. On the night of 31 August, the US military contingent that had been there for about 20 years left Afghanistan.

Earlier, China carried out a death sentence for a couple in love who had committed a serious offence.
