Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced on Monday, June 20, a price freeze on major fuels at the country's gas stations. Retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel will remain unchanged for two weeks at gas stations located on local highways.

"Major fuel prices are frozen for the next two weeks at all gas stations off the highways. That means 94 percent of the 961 gas stations," Plenkovic said.

The Croatian government's decision goes into effect on Tuesday. Starting June 21, diesel will cost 13.08 kuna (1.75 euros) and gasoline will cost 13.5 kuna (1.8 euros).

According to Plenkovic, the fuel price fixation will protect the economy and citizens of Croatia, as well as ensure a stable and intensive growth of tourist flows in the country.
