University of Florida scientists: adding vitamin D to bread boosts immunity

Scientists from Florida State University, in Gainesville (USA) have found that adding vitamin D to bread strengthens the immune system. The vitamin is produced by exposure to sunlight, and dietary supplements are available that contain this component.

The cells of the human body have receptors that absorb vitamin D. It is very important for people of all ages. This component ensures the growth of bones, normalizes the development of the body. Thyroid gland with sufficient amounts of vitamin D works steadily, immunity is strengthened, there are no inflammatory processes in the body. This substance blocks the formation of cancer cells.

Vitamin D is synthesized when the sun shines on the skin. Scientists suggest introducing special additives in bread during the cold season to avoid a shortage of this trace element. Specialists are planning to conduct experiments to determine the preservation of useful properties of this vitamin when exposed to high temperatures during the baking of bakery products.

Researchers concluded that increasing the amount of vitamin D added to the diet would significantly strengthen the body's immune defenses.
