Crimean head: heavy snowfalls will be good for us

Crimean head Serhiy Aksyonov has commented on the heavy snowfall on the peninsula. Aksyonov is confident that this will be good for Crimeans.

"Precipitation fell in colossal amounts, but this is a plus for us. Crimea is experiencing a water shortage today, and for us this is an opportunity to pass the next season with the availability of water sources," said Sergei Aksyonov.

The Head of Crimea noted that the largest amount of precipitation fell in the eastern part of the peninsula. "In the area of Kerch and Leninsky district, 20 millimeters of precipitation fell overnight, in Kirovsky and Belogorsky districts - 10 millimeters," added Sergei Aksyonov.

Before 2014, 85% of the water came from the Dnieper through the North Crimean Canal. After it was blocked, there was a shortage of water resources, but the Russian government developed a project to provide water to Crimeans, for which 50 billion rubles were allocated.

Tetyana Lyubetskaya, head of the Crimean hydrometeocenter, earlier said that 47 centimetres of snow fell in the area of the Crimean bridge overnight. The annual norm of precipitation in Kerch is 452 millimeters.
