Central Postal Customs officers have discovered an unusual find in a parcel bound from Moscow to Nürtingen (Germany). As part of customs control, a Tibetan ritual flute made of human bone was discovered. This was reported in the press service of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
An interesting point is that the sender indicated in the declaration that the parcel contains a musical instrument. However, during the X-ray examination of the parcel, customs officers found a ritual attribute - a Tibetan flute Kangling (Ganlin), made of human bone.
The examination established that the instrument was a modern item with no paleontological or cultural value. It was made from a human femur bone, with an epiphysis on which a human skin cover was placed. This ritual attribute is used by followers of Tibetan Buddhism.
The discovered object was handed over to the Russian Interior Ministry for appropriate measures.
