Paris says Russian spy infiltrated French Defense Ministry in 2017

The infiltration of a Russian spy was announced by the former director of the General Directorate of External Security of France, Bernard Bajolet. The data was confirmed by representatives of the military department.

In a conversation with France 5 TV channel for the documentary "Putin: Master of the Game" Bajolet also said that today in France the number of Russian spies remains at least at the same level as in Soviet times.

“In fact, when I was the general director of the external security service, I brought this to the attention,” he said, answering a question about a possible “Russian mole”.

The office of the ministry confirmed the information about the "Russian mole". At the same time, representatives of the department expressed surprise at the statement made by Bajolet. Because "questions of this type are classified, and the disclosure of information in this area is prosecuted."

Recall that last year, a high-ranking French army officer suspected of spying for Russia was arrested in France. Defense Minister Florence Parly stressed that the arrested man could have been passing "important data" to Russian intelligence.
