Pilots can fly the Boeing 737 MAX after 18 months of training under the new Flair program.
Canadian ultra low-cost carrier Flair has announced the creation of a new training program for future pilots. It will be launched in partnership with Genesis Flight College, a private flight training college based in Collingwood, Ontario.
The program will utilize some of Canada's newest flight technologies. Canada Training Solutions (CTS Aero) will provide unique pilot training technology, including some of the most advanced flight simulators available in the kingdom.
The Flair program will begin operations in January 2024.
Its goal is to allow cadets to fly the Boeing 737 MAX after 18 months of training.
Programs of this type have long existed in Europe to train cadets on A320s and 737 MAXs, such as Lufthansa's flight training program. However, Canada's Flair will be the first to launch it in North America.
Amid a growing pilot shortage, such programs could prove critical to continuing to attract qualified pilots.
Boeing has previously pledged to invest $950,000 in pilot training scholarships.
