The measure will be temporary and will remain in effect until confirmation of the safety of marine products is received.
The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance imposes restrictions on seafood imports from Japan in connection with another discharge of purified radioactive water into the ocean. The agency informs about it on its official website.
"As a precautionary measure, Rosselkhoznadzor will join China's restrictive measures on fish imports from Japan from October 16," it said.
The measure will be temporary and will be in effect until confirmation of the safety of marine fishery products is received. The products will have to meet the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union, and they will also be checked by Rosselkhoznadzor specialists.
Japan earlier provided Russia with all the data on water discharge from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant.
