One of the hackers from the REvil group detained in Russia could be involved in a cyber attack on the American pipeline company Colonial Pipeline in the spring of 2021. This statement was made at the US White House on Friday, January 14th.
The American authorities approved the arrest of the group, calling the actions of the FSB of the Russian Federation "very important steps."
The White House spokesman noted that the United States does not link the cyberattacks of hackers and their arrest with what is happening now between Russia and Ukraine.
Recall that on January 14, the FSB detained members of the criminal community REvil, who stole money using malicious software from the bank accounts of foreign citizens, and then cashed them out. More than 426 million rubles were confiscated from members of the criminal group, including in cryptocurrency, $600,000, €500,000.
