The World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet approved the Sputnik V vaccine. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov spoke about current events on this issue.
"Russia at the moment has not yet provided all the data to the WHO on Sputnik V for its approval. We had a different understanding of what the information should be and how it should be provided," Dmitry Peskov said.
According to him, the Russian side "is gradually moving in this direction." The representative of the Kremlin expressed hope for the positive result of this work.
Denis Logunov, deputy head of the Gamaleya Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology, said recently that employees of the center are expecting the WHO delegation to arrive in January. Foreign specialists will conduct procedures for approval of the Sputnik V vaccine.
The WHO confirmed that the delegation for approval of the drug will not arrive in Russia before January 2022. The inspection will take place only after the data from Russia have been reviewed, a more precise date has not been named.
The head of RDIF, Kirill Dmitriev, previously reported that Sputnik V is the safest and most effective vaccine in the world.
