All accounts with outdated blue ticks on Twitter will lose their verification badge within a few months.
"Within a few months, we will remove all obsolete blue ticks," new Twitter owner Ilon Musk said on his social networking page.
Musk called the way they were issued corrupt and meaningless.
Earlier, Twitter accounts of allegedly the first U.S. President George Washington and Jesus Christ got blue ticks after the billionaire's reforms. For a long time, the latter were actually proof of identity on the social network.
The problems began after Musk announced that all Twitter Blue subscribers would receive a blue tick, which cost eight dollars a month. Later, the head of the company said that fictitious accounts with blue ticks would get blocked.
