On Wednesday, the YouTube blog reported that the service will hide the number of "dislikes" under videos. The number of dislikes will now only be seen by the author of the content.
"We are hiding the number of 'dislikes' on YouTube, but the 'dislike' button will remain," the video host noted in a press release.
The changes took effect on Wednesday, November 10th. With this measure, YouTube intends to reduce the scale of "dislike attacks" - the deliberate increase in the number of "dislikes" marks in order to bait the author of the video.
Earlier, YouTube conducted an experiment that showed that, without seeing the number of "dislikes", netizens are less likely to put a negative mark on the video themselves. According to the developers, the new measure is correct and necessary to create a comfortable online environment.
