The country is increasing the number of Russian-speaking employees in the tourism sector.
Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman Azzan Kassim Mohammed Al-Busaidi said that the country's authorities expect a significant inflow of tourists from Russia this year.
At the same time, he noted the growing interest of Russians in Oman as a tourist destination.
"According to the results of 2023, we received plus 300% to 2022. This shows the growing interest from Russians in a new destination in the Arabian Peninsula,” Al-Busaidi told RIA Novosti.
Assessing such interest of tourists from Russia in Oman, the country's authorities believe that by the end of this year the tourist flow will grow four times compared to last year.
In 2023, 20 thousand Russians visited Oman.
“For Russian tourists, Oman will offer special tour packages that include not only accommodation, but also sightseeing and beach program to show all the possibilities of the country,” the Oman Ministry of Tourism added.
As a bonus, discounts from hotels of up to 20% will be introduced. Work is underway to develop direct air service from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Sajda Al-Ghaiti, a member of the Omani delegation, told the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that the Omani authorities are interested in the development of the tourism sector and cooperation with Russia in this area.
Oman also wants to establish supplies of fruits and vegetables to Russia.
