Russia ranked third among G20 countries with the lowest unemployment

The Russian Federation is second only to Japan and Mexico in this indicator.

By the end of 2023, Russia has entered the top 3 countries of the G20 with the lowest unemployment, behind only Japan and Mexico, RIA Novosti has calculated according to the national statistical services.

Unemployment in Russia at the end of last year amounted to 3%. The country ranked third among the largest countries with the lowest unemployment rate. Japan (2.5%) took the first place in the rating, followed by Mexico (2.6%).

Unemployment below 5% was observed in eight G20 countries: South Korea (3.2%), the United States (3.7%), Britain (3.8%), Australia (3.9%) and Saudi Arabia (4.4%). The outsider of the rating was South Africa with a rate of 32.1%.

In annual terms, unemployment fell in 12 G20 countries, most noticeably in Turkey: by 1.3% to 8.9%. Unemployment rose in seven countries, most notably in Canada, up 0.8% to 5.8%.

Only in Japan the unemployment rate remained unchanged - 2.5%.

Earlier it was reported that unemployment in Russia fell to a record low of 2.8%.
