The United States has set a new world record for the daily number of COVID-19 infections with over 1.13 million cases.
According to Reuters, the previous record was set on January 4. Then more than a million cases were detected against the background of the spread of Omicron. Prior to that, a record was registered on December 31, specialists found 590,000 cases of coronavirus.
Not all states had time to publish data on the incidence of the disease for 24 hours, and therefore the final figure may be even higher.
According to the agency's statistics, the number of patients hospitalized with the coronavirus reached 132,646, breaking the January 2021 record of 132,051 patients.
