Students of Yerevan State University (YSU) went on a protest demanding to stop the process of delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan and transfer of border territories.
According to 168.am online edition, the protesters chant the slogan “Student, Protest” in the university building.
In addition, protesters are gathering in Republic Square near the Armenian government building. According to local Telegram channels, a number of roads and highways are blocked. The protesters oppose the transfer of a number of border territories to the Azerbaijani side.
The leader of the protest movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, said the protesters intend to seek the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan through the impeachment process in parliament.
Earlier, Armenian police reinforced their forces near government buildings in Republic Square in central Yerevan, where a rally against the delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan was planned. Thousands of people gathered for the rally, which took up almost the entire square. A stage was set up for speeches by opposition leaders and patriotic songs were played.
