In Brussels, climate activists threw a cream pie in the face of the CEO of the Irish airline Ryanair Michael O'Leary, reports the Daily Mail.

It is noted that O'Leary was preparing to address the European Commission as part of his campaign to force the EU to take action against airline staff strikes.

The Ryanair chief was preparing for a press conference next to a cardboard cutout of EC chairwoman Ursula von der Leyen. At that moment, two women with pies approached O'Leary.

"Welcome to Belgium!" - one of them declared and tossed the pastries.

The other woman called for a halt to airplane pollution.

O'Leary reacted jokingly to the situation, noting that he always gets a warm welcome in Belgium. Speaking to reporters afterward, he noted that "cream tastes better in Ireland."

Belgian pilots of Ryanair announced earlier that they will go on strike on September 14-15. These dates were specifically chosen to coincide with the airline's general meeting of shareholders. They are demanding "an immediate end to the blackmail" being carried out by Ryanair. The pilots declare the need to "strictly comply with Belgian law, pay debts and negotiate without preconditions".
