The U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaii Volcano Observatory has reported a glow in webcam images from Mt. Kilauea that indicates the start of an eruption.
An eruption began in Hawaii of one of the most active volcanoes, Kilauea, which is located in Hawaii Volcano National Park.
The beginning of the eruption became known the day before about 04.44 am local time. According to experts from the Hawaii Volcano Observatory of the U.S. Geological Survey, webcams recorded the glow at the top of the volcano.
At this time, Hawaii has declared a code red air danger. For now, the active eruption is only in the volcano's crater, but the service will be able to revise the danger level as events develop.
Meanwhile, Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. The last time it erupted was in 2021.
One of the volcano's most destructive eruptions happened in 2018, when local authorities had to evacuate nearly ten thousand people. The lava destroyed more than 700 homes, RIA Novosti writes.
