According to SuperJob research, in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2024, residents' interest in using bicycles and scooters to commute to work has decreased compared to the previous year.
In Moscow, 65 percent of respondents were against using bicycles to commute to work, up from 50 percent in 2023. Regarding scooters and electric scooters, 75 percent of respondents were against them, which is more than in 2023 (62 percent). However, the share of people who already use bicycles to commute to work remained stable at three percent, while the popularity of scooters increased from two to five percent.
In St. Petersburg, the situation is similar: 54 percent of respondents expressed reluctance to commute to work on bicycles, and 73 percent on scooters. These figures are also higher than last year. Nevertheless, the actual use of both modes of transportation has increased: six percent of St. Petersburg residents now prefer bicycles for commuting to work, and four percent choose scooters.
