Nearly 80,000 tourists have been stranded in China's Sanya Municipality on Hainan Island. The island's authorities have again imposed a full lockdown after a new increase in the incidence of coronavirus was recorded.

Authorities have now banned all rail and air ticket sales to and from the island, the Associated Press reported.

The new bans went into effect the morning of August 6 as local health officials identified 229 new cases of COVID-19 the day before.

Tourists must now pass a negative PCR test for the coronavirus five times within seven days to leave the city.

Now, by the way, during the lockdown period, local hotels and inns have made concessions to guests and made a 50% discount on accommodation.
