Rospotrebnadzor reported what passengers of flights delayed or canceled due to bad weather are entitled to.
Rospotrebnadzor experts explained in their Telegtam channel that refusal of transportation, which is caused by the cancellation or delay of a flight specified in the ticket, a change of route or the performance of a flight not according to schedule, is recognized as an involuntary refusal of transportation.
In this case, the traveler has the right to demand a refund, even if the fare was non-refundable.
To get the money, it is necessary to go to the counter of the air carrier's representative office to get a mark on the ticket or a certificate confirming the cancellation of the flight delay. There it is necessary to draw up a claim to the company and attach copies of documents to it.
The passenger can recover from the airline a fine of 25% of the minimum wage for each hour of delay, but not more than 50% of the ticket price, if the carrier does not prove that the delay was due to force majeure, explained in the department.
In addition, if the flight is delayed, the passenger can use the service of luggage storage free of charge, mother and child room for children under seven years old. Also travelers should be provided with soft drinks and hot meals if the flight was delayed from four hours. Accommodation in a hotel is provided when waiting more than eight hours during the day and more than six hours at night, transfer to the hotel must be provided by the airport.
If necessary, representatives of the air harbor must provide the passenger with two phone calls or two e-mails if the flight is delayed for more than two hours.
