Since the beginning of September, new rules for fixing traffic violations have been in force in the country. In connection with this, many tracking complexes were put out of operation, but there may not be enough money in the regional budgets to reconnect them.
Russia's regions began a mass shutdown of traffic cameras in order to reconfigure them on September 1. In some regions, up to a quarter of the tracking complexes were taken out of service.
These measures were caused by the introduction of new rules for photo-video registration of traffic violations, which came into force just at the beginning of September. Before in this sphere there were separate recommendations rather than a mandatory set of rules, and many drivers complained about it.
However, reconnection of one complex will cost half a million rubles, and there is no such money in regional budgets. And therefore not all cameras will be able to return to operation quickly enough.
Earlier it was reported that Chuvashia spends 58 million rubles a year on maintenance of traffic cameras.
Since the beginning of the year, traffic cameras in the Orel region have recorded over 300 thousand traffic violations.
