On May 1, the U.S. Treasury Department added several large Russian digital companies and integrators to the sanctions list. Among them were Lanit Corporation, Astra Group and IBS Group. The list also includes developers of IS solutions and creators of digital archives.
New blocking measures introduced by the US Department of Finance have affected a number of major players in the Russian IT market. Among them are two system integrators - Lanit Corporation (Lanit JSC) and part of the IBS group of companies (IBS Expertiza LLC), including IBS IT Expertiza, IBS Soft, IBS Infinisoft and IBS IT Services, Kommersant reports.
Lanit JSC is a diversified group of IT companies specializing in digitalization and import substitution. IBS Group is engaged in in-house software development, IT outsourcing and consulting.
Also on the sanctions list was Astra Group, a major developer of operating systems and infrastructure software to replace Microsoft, IBM, and Citrix products.
Earlier in December 2022, another legal entity involved in the development of the Astra Linux operating system (NPO Rusbitech) was included in the EU sanctions list because of the use of this system by the Russian armed forces.
The company assured that the sanctions will not affect their business, as the company uses only its own technologies and does not depend on other jurisdictions. They also emphasized that they do not consider EU and US countries as destinations for foreign expansion and will continue to develop Russian software.
Other Russian IT market players on the US sanctions list include Sisoft (specifically the structure of the company for engineering software development Sisoft Development JSC), Aladdin (Aladdin R.D.) and Secret Technologies (Secret Technologies LLC) and the developer of document digitization tools of ELAR Corporation (Electronic Archive LLC).
Earlier, the United States imposed sanctions against five Russian citizens over Navalny's death (recognized as an extremist), as well as against 37 companies from St. Petersburg and the Metma plant from Yoshkar-Ola.
