Schoolchildren from the Leningrad region due to COVID-19 will go on unscheduled holidays from February 7 to 20

Petersburg, students in grades 7-11 were sent to distance learning amid an increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19. In the Leningrad region, schoolchildren will be sent on unscheduled vacations ahead of schedule.

The decision was made in the operational headquarters for the non-proliferation of coronavirus infection. The order will be signed by Governor Alexander Drozdenko in the near future, the regional government said.

Schoolchildren in the Leningrad region will go on vacation from February 7 to 20 respectively. The reason for this decision is an increase in the number of children and adolescents infected with the Omicron strain.

Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov has recently signed an order on the transfer of schoolchildren in grades 7-11 to distance learning. The resolution comes into force on February 2 and is valid till February 13 respectively.

Last day 125 836 people in Russia have been diagnosed with COVID-19. In St. Petersburg 13,619 people became ill within a day.
