Musk wants to move Tesla's registration to Texas

Tesla is going to hold a vote among shareholders to re-register the company in the state of Texas instead of Delaware, announced the head of the carmaker Ilon Musk in his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The decision to re-register came after Musk was blocked from offering to pay himself a $55.8 billion bonus. The majority of Musk's subscribers (87.1 per cent) expressed support for the idea. The billionaire planned to use the funds to finance interplanetary travel, but the judge assessed the proposed sum as "unfathomable" and ruled that paying it out would be unfair to shareholders. Musk has since decided to change the company's state of incorporation.

Ilon Musk shared his experience, advising to avoid incorporating companies in Delaware and prefer states where decisions are made by shareholder vote, such as Nevada or Texas. The issue of moving the company to Texas will now be subjected to a shareholder resolution in an upcoming vote.
