Putin confers Russian citizenship on Natalya Oreiro

Uruguayan actress and singer Natalya Oreiro and her nine-year-old son became Russian citizens.

The corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The document was published on October 25th on the Kremlin website.

Recall that last June, Natalia Oreiro said that she applied for a Russian passport. According to the celebrity, it all started with a joke in one of the Russian programs. The TV presenter told Natalia Oreiro that she was "the most Russian among foreign women", to which she agreed and said that she "only needs Putin to issue a Russian passport".

The artist has repeatedly spoken about her love for Russia and that she is learning the Russian language. The singer performs Russian-language versions of her world hits, and to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, she sang the song "Нам нужна одна победа" (We Need One Victory).
