The American actress announced Monday that she has reached an agreement to end her legal battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The end of the long legal battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. The 36-year-old American actress, who last July appealed her conviction in a high-profile libel suit against her ex-husband in the United States, has finally decided to give up, reports Le Parisien.
Amber Heard also announced that "after much deliberation," she has reached a settlement. In a post on Instagram (banned in Russia), she wrote: "Even if my appeal to the American courts were successful, the best outcome would be a new trial in which a new jury would have to analyze the evidence. I just can't go through this a third time."
Lawyers for Johnny Depp, 59, on Monday welcomed the court's decision. "We are pleased to officially close this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who has made clear throughout the trial that his priority is to get to the truth," attorneys Benjamin Chu and Camille Vasquez said.
