Mikhail Efremov, released on parole after 4.5 years of imprisonment, got his first role in the theater “Workshop 12”. In the play “Without Witnesses” he will play a character with a tragic fate reminiscent of his own.
After parole Mikhail Yefremov will return to acting for the first time in 4.5 years. As announced by Nikita Mikhalkov, 57-year-old artist got a role in the theatrical adaptation of the famous drama “Without Witnesses” in the “Workshop 12”.
Efremov's character is a man who destroyed his family for the sake of his career and faced alcohol addiction. The plot echoes the personal story of the actor.
In the play is also occupied by Anna Mikhalkova. The premiere will take place in the fall of 2025. In the 1983 film version, the main roles were performed by Irina Kupchenko and Mikhail Ulyanov.
79-year-old director explained that the decision was made after a personal letter from the actor. Before that, about the possible employment of Efremov reported Sobchak, who was present at their conversation.
