Scientists have discovered the secret of the Stradivarius violin, giving it a unique sound.
Scientists have discovered another secret of the Stradivarius violin. The discovery was made by researchers from Italy. As stated in a paper published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, they found in violins made in 1690 and 1718, a protein compound. An intermediate layer of the compound was between the layers of wood and varnish.
Having examined it, the scientists concluded that the layer is of animal origin and contains collagen. The other components of the researchers to find out.
Recall, earlier, scientists from Taiwan learned that Stradivarius violins were covered with a substance containing calcium, copper, aluminum, sodium and zinc, as well as collagen.
