Scientists create new type of biofuel from vegetable oil

To do this, they developed a catalyst of incredible small size.

A group of chemists from Australia experimentally was able to obtain a new catalyst capable of converting even a very contaminated vegetable oil into biodiesel fuel.

The catalyst developed by scientists is a ceramic sponge of microscopic size (several times thinner than a human hair) with nanoparticles fixed to it. By interacting with fat, the sponge splits it into glycerin and fatty acid esters, thereby allowing the creation of usable fuel.
