Dumskrolling is a new psychiatric disorder that defines the depressive state associated with constant reading of news feeds. Researchers at Texas Tech University have identified the main dangers of this disorder.

Specialists say that this disease affects not only mental health, but also physical health. To describe the effects, scientists used the image of dementors from the Harry Potter novel, which suck the positive emotions out of the victims.

Scientists explained that the mechanism of mental illness is simple. A person flips through the news, causing the brain to be in a constant state of arousal. The constant reading of the news results in a more horrific picture of the world than it really is, which causes a drop in serotonin levels in the body.
