Red meat consumption can cause diabetes and coronary heart disease

Experts cited reasons for eating less meat.

Oxford University experts have found that regular consumption of red and processed meat can provoke the development of diabetes, coronary heart disease, pneumonia, and the formation of polyps in the colon, BMC Medicine reports.

During research, scientists have found that eating poultry increases the risk of gastritis, duodenitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Experts cited several reasons for eating meat less often. The first is to save money, since quality meat is expensive. By eliminating meat dishes from the diet, a person becomes more inventive in the kitchen, trying vegetables that he did not eat before.

Experts believe that avoiding meat will help fight climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help reduce the amount of resources used in food production. Consuming organic vegetables helps support their producers and farming without the use of pesticides.
